Students at CTE are producing a weekly news segment, District News Minute, under the guidance of Media Arts Instructor Nathan Hoffman. The project involves students working as anchors, teleprompter operators, and behind-the-scenes roles like audio and graphics, even though they’re primarily animation students. Senior Jake Vermeer, nicknamed "One-take-Jake" for his smooth delivery, initially hesitated to anchor but grew to enjoy the experience.
The initiative helps students develop communication, teamwork, and technical skills applicable beyond broadcasting, preparing them for careers after high school. Hoffman highlights the program's success in boosting attendance and engagement by providing meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities.
