Students who participated in the 2024 CTE Culinary Camp got a special visit from celebrity chef Paul Wahlberg yesterday! Chef Paul visited with the students and spoke about his 40 years in the culinary business. During their conversation students learned about all aspects of the restaurant business, but also about the emotional connections we make with food and the cultural and societal importance of sharing a meal. Most importantly, after the talk, students learned how to make tacos! 🌮 🎉 Thanks for stopping by Chef Paul!

The last 2 weeks our FFA members have been hard at work making around 115 bars of soap with leftover goat milk from our friends that were here earlier this semester! All of this soap was packaged and donated to the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House! At Bishop Dudley they take in people that are in need of a place to stay and provide a warm bed/shower, hygiene kits, meals and more!
Just further proof that our FFA members care so deeply for the community they are a part of! Great work everyone!!
Yesterday the CTE Academy hosted the Army medical trailer and the Sanford Health trailer. The Army also set up a combat life-saving station, a military vehicles station (a Humvee) and physical fitness station. The trailers provided students with digital simulation in an ambulance setting, emergency room, and trauma situations. Find more photos here! https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBqzfN
What’s better than having AOF Alumni back in the classroom to give advice to future business leaders?!?? We can't think of anything better!
Thank you to Taneil Landsem (RHS2015) and Denet Christopher (RHS2009) for coming back to visit!
EMT students went to Sanford to see the helicopter and also the fire department! Who knew seniors in high school still like to dress up as fire fighters!
Two minds converge on one compelling and distinct theme. The transformation from student to teacher is imminent! Meet Michaela Helm, a senior at Roosevelt High School. She navigates the domains of Baking and Pastries with Mrs. Whempner and hones her oratory skills in Speech class with Mrs. Mushaney. As Michaela prepares to spread her wings and venture into the academic world at the University of Michigan, her sights are set on the future as a Physics professor. Her mentors resoundingly agree on her potential. Mrs. Mushaney said Michaela gives excellent effort, is imaginative, polished, and “will be an amazing teacher.” Mrs. Whempner wrote Michaela asks thoughtful questions, does exceptional work, and is an absolute pleasure to have in her classroom. Chef Whempner added, “She will be an outstanding teacher.” Congratulations, Michaela Helm! You are a compelling “See the Vision” winner!
As summer break approaches, please be aware that SFSD is once again offering the Free Summer Meal Program. See attached for information.
For the second year in a row, the Sioux Falls School District is proud to be called one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association for Music Merchants Foundation. This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our teachers, the commitment of our students, and to the close ties that have grown together over the years in our music education community. As we celebrate this recognition, let us also celebrate the power of music to inspire, educate, and unite us all.
Wow! SFSD is so grateful to the Sioux Falls STORM, LEVO, and media partners KELOLand TV for supporting Operation Hope & Caring where $18,417 was raised to support elementary schools that don't have PTAs/PTOs. We had a great time at the game and especially enjoyed the WIN! ❤️

The Digital Music class welcomed Tony DePaolo in to talk about being involved in the world of music. Tony talked about the process of creating a band and the music behind it. In addition, he discussed the successes and the challenges musicians may encounter. We appreciate his time and encouragement ! @tonydepaolomusic
Career Exploration students went to a senior community and helped residents with their technology questions and played games with those on the memory unit! They had a blast!
The Weather Service indicates the greatest threat of severe weather did not materialize in Sioux Falls. We will begin our bus routes at approximately 3pm, so there will be a slight delay in getting elementary and middle school students home. High School dismisses at normal time.
